Serenata Rimpianto
Music by Enrico Toselli
Lyrics by Alfredo Silvestri
1922

Lyrics in Original Italian:

Come un sogno d’or, scolpito è nel core
Il ricordo ancor’, di quell’amor che non esiste più
Fu la sua vision, qual dolce sorriso
che più lieta fa, col suo brillar, la nostra gioventù

Ma fu molto breve in me, la dolcezza di quel ben, svani
quel bel sogno d’or lasciando in me, il dolor.

Translated into English by Bevin Chu:

Like a dream of gold, sculpted in the heart
the memory still, of that love that exists no more
It was the vision of her, such a sweet smile
that pleased, with her brilliance, in our youth

But it was very brief for me, the sweetness which has truly, vanished
that beautiful dream of gold left me in, sorrow
Gloominess has come to pass, ever sadder over days, of youth passed
with regret I remain alone, yes, regret bitter with grief, in my heart

O ray of sunshine
Along my path shines no more
No more, no more!

Phrasing, as sung by Alfredo Kraus:

[ Instrumental Prelude: Co-me un so-gno d’or / scol-pi-to è nel co-re /
Il ri-cor-do an-cor’ / di quel-l’a-mor che non e-sis-te più… ]

Co-me un so-gno d’or / scol-pi-to è nel co-re /
Il ri-cor-do an-cor’ / di quel-l’a-mor che non e-sis-te più… /
Fu la sua vi-sion / qual dol-ce sor-ri-so /
che più lie-ta fa / col suo bril-lar / la nos-tra gio-ven-tù… /

Ma fu mol-to bre-ve in me / la dol-cez-za di quel ben / sva-ni /
quel bel sog-no d’or la-scian-do in me / il do-lor /
cu-po è l’av-ve-nir… / sem-pre più tri-sti i di / la gio-ven-tù / pas-sa-ta sa-rà /
rim-pian-to mi res-ta sol / sì rim-pian-to ama-ro e duol’ / nel cor /

[ Co-me un so-gno d’or ]
Oh rag-gio di so-le /
[ Fu la sua vi-sion ]
Sul mio cam-mi-no a hi-mè non bril-li… più /
Mai più / mai… più… !

Readers who have read my earlier article, Thyroid Cancer and Laetrile/B17 (甲狀腺癌和苦杏仁/B17), know that I beat back my stage 3 thyroid cancer with B17.

What most may not know, is that I suffered a relapse — for two reasons.

One. I underestimated my maintenance dosage. I cut my dosage to one-fifth of my maximum dosage.

Two. I continued to “consume mass quantities” of junk foods such as carcinogenic potato chips and Cheetos.

So what did I do in response?

For starters, I increased my B17 dosage. But when my remaining supply ran out sooner than expected, instead of going to all the trouble of reordering B17 tablets, I decided to test out an alternative — sodium bicarbonate.

Numerous online articles describe this treatment. Google: “cancer sodium bicarbonate” and you’ll see. Half of them will purport to “debunk” the treatment. But I know from first hand experience that the “debunkers” are  themselves full of bunk.

Sodium bicarbonate fights cancer in a different manner than B17, but yields the same result. Cancer cells die off. Sodium bicarbonate fights cancer by creating an alkaline environment within one’s body. Cancer cells can grow and survive only in an acid environment. Cancer sufferers have acidic systems. Change one’s pH balance from acidic to alkaline, and the cancer cells can no longer survive, and gradually die off.

To make a long story short, I used sodium bicarbonate to treat my cancer for roughly the same amount of time as I did B17. I  beat back the cancer a second time with yet another alternative cancer treatment, one that was possibly even more effective, and astonishingly inexpensive to boot. A huge 2 Kg bag of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda costs only 255 New Taiwan Dollars at Costco in Taipei. That’s roughly 8 US Dollars.

glass of water

I currently dissolve a plastic yoghurt spoon full of sodium bicarbonate in a glass of water in the morning each day. I sip from it throughout the day, until it is all consumed, by bedtime. That is my maintenance dose, which evidence suggests is holding the line against a recurrence of the Big C.

A $2.61 /lb. of Sodium Bicarbonate Will Outperform A $100,000 Chemo Treatment

NB: I have read that sodium bicarbonate overdosage could lead to alkalosis, which is, shall we say, “not good”. I have honestly related my personal experience with sodium bicarbonate, but I cannot be held responsible for what anyone does with this information. That is his or her own personal responsibility.
